The trail over Haggenegg leads through the beautiful high valley of Alp towards the two Mythen peaks. The stately Au Convent and panoramic views of the Glarner Alps and the valley basin of Schwyz and Brunnen are feasts for the eyes.

From Einsiedeln railway station, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail initially leads through the town. The houses soon give way to open meadows and pastures. The route continues via Trachslau in a gentle succession of ascents and descents, with stretches of woodland punctuating the long approach to the main climb.

Beyond Trachslau, the trail begins to climb more noticeably. The Bruustchappeli stands directly beside the route before it continues to gain elevation between pastures and woodland. After around 13 kilometres, the highest point is reached near Haggenegg at just over 1,400 m. A little further on, the Haggenegg pilgrimage chapel also lies directly beside the trail.

The long descent to Schwyz now follows. Over roughly six kilometres, the hiking trail descends almost 900 metres, leading from open terrain through woodland and reaching the first houses again at Ried. Passing the Ried chapel, it continues downhill to Schwyz, where the hike ends near the Drei Könige bus stop.
