01/ Overview
The route
Between Hallwilersee and Baldeggersee, this wine trail follows vineyards, ravines and villages through the Seetal. Schloss Heidegg forms a striking finale above Gelfingen.
From Mosen railway station, the wine trail initially leads to the shore of Hallwilersee. It leaves the village between the houses and continues through meadows and vineyards to Aesch. At the Klosterhof winery, winegrowing takes centre stage; the Altwisertobel ravine then provides a shadier contrast to the open cultivated landscape.
Beyond Aesch, the trail continues to climb. Roughly halfway along, the route reaches its highest point near the Lindenberg at around 600 metres. It continues via Bleulikon to Hitzkirch, passing the commandery and the Church of St Pankratius. Meadows, stretches of woodland and vineyard slopes alternate; near Kaiserspan, winegrowing once again shapes the trail.
On the final section, the route leads to Schloss Heidegg. The castle stands high above Baldeggersee in a parkland and cultural landscape of national importance; the rose garden is another stop along the trail. From the castle, the trail descends past the Church of St Wendelin to Gelfingen, ending at the railway station after just over two and a half hours.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
