01/ Overview
The route
The mountain road on Mount Weissenstein, which is closed to vehicles in winter, is transformed into a toboggan run offering plenty of speed and turns.
The sledging run begins at the Weissenstein stop at around 1,280 m, virtually the highest point on the route. The small restaurant is right beside the start; shortly afterwards, the descent passes directly by Kurhaus Weissenstein. The ecumenical mountain chapel, however, stands slightly off the route up there.
From the buildings on the heights, the sledging run heads out onto the open slopes. Over five kilometres, the route descends around 640 metres. Kapuziner lies close to the upper end of the route, after which the long descent into the valley sets the course. The terrain remains largely open as Weissenstein recedes and Oberdorf gradually draws closer.
Towards the end, the mountain stream accompanies the final metres of the route. After just over an hour, the sledging run ends at the valley station at around 650 m. The Oberdorf SO stop is only a few steps from the finish.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Sledding is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
