01/ Overview
The route
Sledging fun for big and small: the rapid ride through the Jura winter landscape from the Wasserfallen cableway mountain station to Reigoldswil takes around half an hour. It leads through the forest, over meadows and even through a tunnel full of icicles.
The descent begins at Wasserfallen mountain station, also the highest point on the route at around 920 m. The Heidi Stübli stands right by the start, before the toboggan run plunges into the forest. Shortly afterwards, the source of the Hintere Frenke lies directly on the route. From here on, the stream sets the course for much of the five-kilometre descent.
The route drops around 420 metres in elevation overall and winds downhill through long stretches of forest. Around the halfway point, the Schelmenloch waterfall lies a little off the route; its surroundings are still part of the wooded Hintere Frenke valley. Further on, meadows and pastures open up between the trees before the route once again follows the stream.
On the final section, the first houses of Reigoldswil draw closer. After just over an hour, the ride ends at Wasserfallen valley station. The Reigoldswil (Wasserfallenbahn) bus stop is only a few steps away.
