01/ Overview
The route
The Kalthof-Wiliberg ski run is seen as an insider tip in the centre of the country. The varied and slightly hilly route over the plateau between the Suhrental and the Uerkental valley provides a view of the Alps and the Jura mountain chain.
The roughly seven-kilometre trail starts in Kalthof near Staffelbach, away from public transport. The nearest stop, Staffelbach, Gemeindehaus, is around 1.5 kilometres away. From the starting point, the circuit heads out into open terrain characterised by meadows and fields. The gentle undulations add up to around 120 metres of ascent.
The trail climbs gradually over its first half. After a little over three kilometres, it reaches its highest point near Fuchshubel at around 680 m. It then descends again in broad curves; there are no major differences in elevation, but the constant ups and downs set the rhythm.
Towards the end, the trail approaches the houses of Uf em Chalt. After just under two hours, the circuit closes back at the starting point in Staffelbach, Kalthof.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
