01/ Overview
The route
The Herlisberg-Römerswil cross-country skiing trail is something of an insider’s secret in Lucerne’s Seetal region. It passes through a nature conservation area and offers breathtaking views of the Central Swiss Alps and two lakes.
The ten-kilometre cross-country skiing circuit begins near the Herlisberg, Dorfplatz bus stop. From the village, the trail heads out across the open meadows and pastures around Herlisberg. Its gently undulating profile involves a total ascent of around 120 metres, with no long climbs.
The trail sweeps in a wide arc through open countryside. After a little over two-thirds of the route, it reaches its highest point near Bloseberg at just under 800 m. The circuit then descends gently again and crosses open ground towards Herlisberg. After a little over two and a half hours, it ends back at the starting point in Römerswil, Herlisberg. The bus stop at Dorfplatz is around 130 m away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
