01/ Overview

The route

It doesn't always have to be the Alps: Langenbruck-Bärenwil is a winter sports region that has retained its family atmosphere and manageable size. Alongside ski lifts, there are also cross-country ski trails. Bärenwil cross-country ski trail lies on an idyllic plateau.

The trail starts in Bärenwil, away from public transport; the nearest stop, Holderbank SO, Steinbruch, is around 1.3 km away. From the village, the six-kilometre circuit initially crosses open countryside, climbing steadily. Beyond the first meadows, the forest draws closer as the route heads towards Höchi Flue without reaching the summit.

Around halfway, the trail reaches its highest point at approximately 800 m. It then descends through alternating woodland and open terrain. On the final section, it reaches the lowest point of the circuit and briefly follows the Musbächli. After just under 1¾ hours and around 150 metres of ascent, the circuit ends back in Bärenwil.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
