Wandflue Trail

The trail first meanders across pastures and then above and along the ridge of the amazing Wandflue. With views of the Alps ranging from Säntis Mountain to Mont Blanc, the path crosses the high plateau. On the way back, you will pass a commemorative stone erected for Federal Councilor Willi Ritschard.

From the Grenchen, Unterer Grenchenberg bus stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point at Untergrenchenberg. The snowshoe tour initially climbs across open Jura pastures. After just under a kilometre, it reaches its highest point near Hochschwang at around 1,380 m. The terrain remains broad and open before the route continues in a sweeping curve.

Across the heights, it heads towards Obergrenchenberg. The mountain inn lies close to the route and marks roughly the halfway point of the five-kilometre circuit. Around the buildings of Obergrenchenberg, the scenery changes: the route gradually leaves the open terrain and enters the forest.

For its final third, the circuit runs through the woodland on Grenchenberg, the high plateau west of Weissenstein. It gradually loses elevation, reaching its lowest point shortly before the end. A short final ascent takes the snowshoe trail back to the buildings of Untergrenchenberg and the nearby Grenchen, Unterer Grenchenberg bus stop.
