01/ Overview
The route
The pastured woodland of Les Breuleux is one of the most beautiful sites in the Franches-Montagnes. Crossing this vast landscape is just like immersing yourself in another world covered in endless pine trees that are well enough spread out for a snowshoe excursion.
From the Les Breuleux, gare stop, the snowshoe trail initially leads out of the village. Open meadows and pastures characterise the first section before the route enters the forest. After a short descent, the climb begins, with the circuit steadily gaining height between woodland and open terrain.
Near Petit Crêt, the highest point draws closer. At the Buvette du Téléski, the route returns to open terrain and shortly afterwards reaches its high point at around 1'100 m. The summit itself lies away from the route. The snowshoe tour then descends across broad open areas towards Les Breuleux. Between the edge of the forest and the first houses, the five-kilometre circuit, with around 180 metres of ascent, returns to Les Breuleux railway station after just over two hours.
