01/ Overview

The route

Puzzles, a bird story and picnic spots accompany the gently ascending Adventure Trail from Marbach to Schangnau. Between the village and open pastures, interactive stations explore friendship and helpfulness.

From the Marbach LU, Bergkäserei bus stop, it is only a few steps to the mountain cheese dairy. This is where the Adventure Trail’s puzzle and discovery stations begin; trail materials are available from the dairy. The bird story featuring Mar, Sol and Lou playfully explores friendship, helpfulness and consideration for others.

The hiking trail initially passes through Marbach and briefly follows the Schonbach. The houses are soon left behind, giving way to meadows and pastures. The route climbs gently via Hinder Sage and Bergrat to the Stäckis barbecue area, an inviting spot for a picnic break. It then continues via Brüggmatte, Siberslehn and Hubel, mostly across open terrain and with a total ascent of just over 120 metres.

Shortly before the destination, the trail reaches its highest point near the Hohgant brewery at just under 1'000 m. The final short section leaves the marked hiking trail and leads to the Arche-Hof in Schangnau, where another barbecue area awaits. The Schangnau, Wald bus stop is located right by the destination.

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
