01/ Overview
The route
A short circular hike from Tiefenbach to the Albert-Heim-Hütte, crossing open Alpine pastures and rocky terrain, passing close to the Schafberg and returning to the Furka area on a broader mountain trail.
From the Tiefenbach (Furka) PostBus stop, it is only a few steps to the starting point by the Berggasthaus Tiefenbach. The mountain trail climbs across open Alpine pastures as the terrain becomes increasingly rocky. Instead of following the broad main trail to the hut, the route takes the narrower option towards Schafberg, with sweeping views of the Alpine landscape.
Near the Schafberg, at around 2,530 m, is the highest point of this nearly seven-kilometre circuit. Just beyond stands the Albert-Heim-Hütte SAC, a hut belonging to the Uto Section in the southern Uri Alps and the route’s refreshment stop. The descent follows the mountain trail through open, rocky terrain to Tätsch. From there, it continues down the valley to the first houses and back to the Tiefenbach (Furka) PostBus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
