Alpine Panorama Trail, Stage 19/29

From the Bernese village of Guggisberg down to the sleepy hamlet of Hirschmatt; via forested hills to the rugged Sensegraben at Zollhaus, into Canton Fribourg and alongside the Warme Sense to the holiday centre of Schwarzsee.

The hike of just under five hours begins at the Guggisberg, Post bus stop. The yellow-waymarked trail leaves the village and initially descends to the lowest point on the route. It then climbs again between open meadows and stretches of woodland. Near Hubel, after around seven kilometres, the route reaches its highest point at just over 1,200 m. This first section therefore accounts for a substantial share of the approximately 660 metres of ascent.

Beyond the high point, a longer descent begins. The hiking trail runs through a Pre-Alpine landscape of pastures and woodland to Zollhaus, then continues towards Lichtena. With constant ups and downs, the route remains varied without entering technically difficult terrain. Towards the end, the trail approaches Schwarzsee. The destination is the village of Schwarzsee, just a few steps from the Gypsera bus stop; the lake itself lies slightly off the route. The hike totals 16 kilometres, with around 740 metres of descent.
