01/ Overview
The route
The Gantrisch-Panoramaweg Path offers a scenic pre-Alps hike with many spectacular viewpoints. The tour takes place on a well structured and signposted hiking path – and is a tour suitable for undertaking in stages.
The long climb out of the valley begins at the Zollhaus FR bus stop. The yellow-marked hiking trail leads through woodland and across open pastures to the Hällstett viewpoint, then continues to Horbüelpass. After just over two hours, the route reaches the Pfyffe. A viewing platform with a panorama panel provides an inviting spot for a first extended break.
The route then enters the forest again and crosses the Gäggersteg. It subsequently climbs to the Schüpfeflue. At around 1'720 m, the highest point of the hike lies in its rocky summit area. By this point, around 1'300 metres of ascent have already been covered.
The long, varied descent begins via the Selibüelsattel. Sections of woodland alternate with the open slopes of the Gurnigel area as the trail follows the ridge and eventually begins to lose altitude more noticeably. After around 21 kilometres and just over seven hours, the hike ends in Gurnigelbad; the Gurnigel, Bad bus stop is only a few minutes’ walk away.
