Alpine Panorama Trail, Stage 22/29

With the mighty Moléson mountain before you and the town of Gruyères behind you, you will climb towards the Plan-Francey middle station. Passing along the northwestern slopes of the Moléson, this leg ends after descending into the forested pre-Alpine resort of Les Paccots.

From Gruyères railway station, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail initially leads through Pringy. Near the start, the Pinte des Vernes lies close to the route before the houses are left behind. Meadows and pastures now dominate the scenery, interspersed with sections where the trail repeatedly enters the forest. The ascent continues for much of the way, accounting for a large proportion of the roughly 950 metres of elevation gain. After just under seven kilometres, the highest point is reached at around 1,520 metres.

The route then initially loses considerable height. Open slopes alternate with stretches of forest as the trail descends towards Les Paccots for an extended distance. The final part of the hike begins at the first houses. After around 16 kilometres and a good five hours, Les Paccots is reached; the route ends near the Ermitage bus stop.
