Fribourg en diagonale, Stage 2/3

Woodland and meadows will be your guide on the way to the summit of Le Gibloux. The viewing platform offers a 360-degree panorama. Between Posat and the river Glâne, the route follows the Way of St. James through cultural and pastoral landscapes. After that, the rock faces along the river Saane are also striking. This long leg can easily be shortened if need be.

From the Bulle, Place du Taureau bus stop, the route leads out of the town. The yellow-waymarked hiking trail crosses open meadows and passes through stretches of woodland, accompanied briefly by the Gérigno. Then comes the long ascent to the Gibloux. The highest point, at 1'205 m, is reached after around a third of the route.

The descent leads back into gentler countryside. Fields, pastures and small settlements alternate along the way. In Vuisternens-en-Ogoz, the path passes directly by the church before continuing northwards via Farvagny-le-Grand. With around 1'000 metres of ascent and a walking time of just over nine hours, the 35-kilometre route requires stamina.

Beyond Posieux, the route enters the Bois de Monterban. A particular highlight follows at Sainte-Apolline: the chapel and bridge lie on the Way of St James and provide a crossing of the Glâne. The outskirts of Fribourg then draw closer. The route finally leads via Platy and Pérolles to Fribourg/Freiburg railway station, where the hike ends in the heart of the city.
