Alpine Panorama Trail, Stage 6/29

Three cantons, two lakes and a large valley - the Lindth plain - determine the characteristics of this crossover stage from Eastern to Central Switzerland. In addition it offers a historic stairway, a lakeside promenade and lots of level countryside.

The roughly six-and-a-half-hour hike begins at the Amden, Dorf bus stop, the highest point on the route at around 900 m. The yellow-marked hiking trail leaves the houses behind and descends across open meadows. After the long descent, the trail reaches Weesen and the shore of the Walensee. For a short stretch, the route runs directly beside the lake.

Beyond Weesen, the terrain becomes flatter. The trail passes through Ziegelbrücke and Niederurnen into the Linthebene, where villages alternate with open meadows. Later, the route runs directly beside the Hirschlensee. This small lake at around 410 m is also popularly known as the Baggersee. Via Bilten, the trail approaches the first houses of Schübelbach and passes the Parish Church of St. Konrad and Ulrich. The final kilometres lead through the built-up area to Siebnen, passing the Reformed church and continuing to the Siebnen, Aabrücke bus stop.
