Hasebode-Weg

High above Lake Walen, the Hasebode Trail describes a curve around the mountain village of Amden with the Glarus Alps, Lake Walen and the Linth Plain forming the backdrop, in addition to the picture-perfect panoramic views at the Durschlegi viewpoint. The meadows full of flowers and butterflies add their own cheerful touch.

From the Niederschlag bus stop, the yellow-waymarked hiking trail initially heads uphill. It quickly gains altitude between open pastures and woodland. After just under two kilometres, the route reaches its highest point at Oberfurggle, at around 1,500 m. This means that the only sustained ascent is already over.

The remainder of the hike is mostly downhill. The trail descends through alternating stretches of open meadow and shady woodland. Overall, it covers considerably more elevation on the descent than on the ascent, yet at just over two hours the route remains pleasantly manageable. Along the way, the first houses of Amden gradually come into view.

Towards the end, the hiking trail enters the built-up area and descends into the village. Close to the destination, the Löwen offers a place to stop for refreshments. A few steps further on, the approximately seven-kilometre hike ends at the Amden, Dorf bus stop.
