Alte Averserstrasse, Stage 2/2

This stage features wonderful arched bridges and impressive natural stone walls, typical Walser houses, and the high valley's exceptionally rich alpine flora and fauna.

The approximately six-hour hike begins at the Ferrera, Innerferrera bus stop. Right from the start, the mountain hiking trail leads through the village and past the Reformed church before climbing out of the Ferreratal. Woodland alternates with open meadows and pastures, while short descents lend a varied rhythm to the long ascent. Campsut is reached after a good two hours, and a little later the Walserstuba near Cröt lies directly on the route.

Further on, the open high valley defines the character of the hike. The trail passes through Cresta, where the listed Reformed church stands right beside the path, then continues up the valley through loosely scattered settlements. Over the final kilometres, the pastures broaden and the altitude becomes increasingly noticeable. Shortly before the destination, the route reaches its highest point near Juf at just over 2,140 m. After 19 kilometres and a total ascent of around 1,150 metres, the hike ends near the Avers, Juf bus stop.
