01/ Overview
The route
At the center of this circular walk is Giswilerstock, the local mountain. On the Bärgmandlipfad you work your way around this huge limestone massif following ancient routes that lead from pasture to pasture.
The circular hike starts at the Mörlialp bus stop on a mountain trail marked white-red-white throughout. The route initially loses considerable height, descending through wooded slopes to its lowest point. The mountain trail then climbs steadily for a long stretch across open meadows and pastures; much of the total elevation gain of around 950 metres is covered here.
Higher up, the terrain becomes more barren and rocky in places. Below the Mändli, the trail reaches its highest point at around 1,950 m. The rocky Mändli rises close above the route. Shortly afterwards, the mountain trail crosses the Chringe. Open mountain scenery characterises this upper section. Beyond it, the return route begins across open slopes before the forest once again closes in around the trail.
Towards the end, a swift descent leads to Mörlialp. After around 14 kilometres and just over five hours, the circuit ends back at the Mörlialp bus stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
