01/ Overview
The route
The Butterfly Trail, Bärgmandli legends and Fluonalp define this circular hike from Turren through alpine pastures, rocky terrain and Ägertenwald.
The Lungern-Turren cable car takes hikers to the starting point at Turren, at just over 1'500 m. The roughly five-hour circuit begins right by Restaurant Turren. It leads across open alpine pastures along the Butterfly Trail, with the great diversity of species setting the theme for this first section.
At Dundelegg, the route joins the Bärgmandli Trail, where legends and stories from the area accompany the way. Fluonalp has an alpine inn and an alpine cheese dairy. Regional specialities such as Hindersimagronen are on the menu, and with advance booking it is even possible to make cheese there.
The mountain trail then climbs through increasingly rocky terrain to around 1'800 m, the highest point of the hike near the Giswilerstock. The summit itself lies off the route. The trail continues with a series of ascents and descents to Sädel before descending into Ägertenwald. After around 15 km, the circuit ends back at Turren mountain station.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
