01/ Overview
The route
A gentle circuit of Lungerersee, taking in the lakeshore, low-nutrient meadows and woodland. Along the way, views open up towards the Wetterhorn group, while a short detour leads to the Dundelbach Falls.
From Kaiserstuhl railway station, the loop trail initially leads past the houses by the lake and Bürglen Chapel. Open meadows and stretches of woodland soon begin to alternate. Lungerersee remains the tranquil focal point, while the Wetterhorn group and the Bernese Alps rise above the valley. Information panels along the way provide insights into Lungern, and orchids and lilies grow in the low-nutrient meadows.
Around halfway, the route reaches Obsee. From here, a short detour can be made to the Dundelbach Falls before the trail continues through Lungern and close to the lakeshore. Lungerersee offers swimming and water sports, and there are also barbecue sites with firewood along the route. In the final third, the trail climbs gently once more, reaching its highest point near Güpfi at around 750 m. It then leads through open countryside and woodland back to Kaiserstuhl railway station.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
