01/ Overview
The route
Following in the footsteps of yodeller Ruedi Rymann, this long circuit leads from Giswil railway station along the Laui, through meadows and woodland. A wooden figure, themed stations and the narrow footbridge over the stream are distinctive features of the trail.
At Giswil railway station, the wooden Schacherseppli figure points the way to the start of the long, red-marked circuit. The first station is located in the old railway stable and sets the scene for this commemorative trail dedicated to yodeller Ruedi Rymann. The route soon leaves the houses behind and follows the Laui. It continues gently up and down through open countryside and along woodland edges, heading up the valley; the Alte Kirche chapel stands directly beside the trail.
Around halfway, near Heidberistöckli, the circuit reaches its highest point at approximately 600 m. The trail then descends via Rüti to the church of St. Anton and remains close to the stream for long stretches. One of its most distinctive features is the Laui bridge, which is just 80 centimetres wide. The route returns through meadows and patches of woodland to Giswil, reaching the railway station again after just under ten kilometres and a little over two and a half hours.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
