Brünig boasts views of an impressive mountain panorama, featuring the high peaks of the Bernese Oberland and snow all year round. The route crosses sunny valley slopes above the shimmering turquoise waters of Lake Brienz, surrounding you with extraordinarily beautiful scenery.

The long hike begins at the Brünig-Hasliberg public transport stop on the Brünigpass. The pass links the Haslital with the Sarneraatal. The trail initially climbs to its highest point at around 1,080 m near Hirendli. It then descends through meadows and forest to Brienzwiler and continues via Hofstetten towards the lake.

After around ten kilometres, the shore of Lake Brienz is reached. Its steep banks continue beneath the water, which is why there are hardly any shallow-water zones. Through Brienz, the route follows the lakeshore, sometimes across open terrain and sometimes through forest. Oberried and Niederried punctuate the long stretch along the shore.

In Ringgenberg, the ruins of Ringgenberg Castle and its castle church come into view. The route then continues through forest and past the first houses to Unterseen. Passing the 17th-century Unterseen Castle, the final kilometres lead to Interlaken. The hike ends near the Unterseen, Stedtlizentrum public transport stop.
