01/ Overview
The route
Crossing moorland meadows, Nünalpstock and Teufimattsattel, this panoramic mountain hike leads to Haglere. A long descent across alpine pastures then continues to Sörenberg.
The mountain hike begins at the Glaubenbielen, Parkplatz bus stop and leads through open alpine pastures. Right at the start, an alpine kiosk sells cheese, while the Alpwirtschaft Glaubenbielen is another place to stop for refreshments. The path then climbs across meadows and through the protected moorland towards Rotspitz. Dead mountain pines provide habitats for viviparous lizards, typical inhabitants of this wet mountain environment.
The mountain path continues to Nünalpstock before descending briefly to Teufimattsattel. This is followed by the climb to Haglere on the cantonal border between Lucerne and Obwalden. Near the summit, the route reaches its highest point at just over 1,900 m. The open heights offer views of the surrounding mountains before the long descent begins.
Via Alpweid, the path now loses altitude quickly. Towards Sörenberg, the mountain path broadens into a hiking trail once more, and the first houses soon come into view. Shortly before the destination is the Restaurant Bäckerstube. After around ten kilometres and just over three and a half hours, the hike ends at the Sörenberg, Post bus stop.
