Trans Swiss Trail, Stage 16/32

Worthwhile tour over the head of the Glaubenbielen Pass with superb views of the Sarnersee lake and Titlis summit. From time to time you meet the pass road but also repeatedly find quiet sections at Alpoglen or Pörterwald.

The roughly 18-kilometre hike begins at the post office in Sörenberg. Initially, a yellow-marked hiking trail leads out of the village. The route climbs steadily across open meadows; before long, the trail narrows and continues as a mountain path along the slopes towards Glaubenbielen, without reaching the pass itself.

After a little over two hours, the route draws close to the Schafnase. Shortly afterwards, the highest point is reached at around 1,730 metres. From here, the descent dominates: first across broad Alpine pastures, then increasingly through forest. Near the Giswilerstock, the route skirts rocky terrain before descending into the valley along extended slopes.

Towards the end, the mountain path broadens into a hiking trail once more. The first houses of Giswil come into view, and on the valley floor the Laui accompanies the final section. After just under six hours, the hike ends directly at Giswil railway station.
