01/ Overview
The route
A short panoramic circuit across the meadows above Sörenberg, with views of the Schrattenfluh, Brienzer Rothorn and Entlebuch. Along the way, the Laui barbecue area offers a pleasant spot for a break.
From the Sörenberg, Post bus stop, it is just a few steps to the starting point in the village. A little over an hour should be allowed for the circuit. Passing Restaurant Bäckerstube, the yellow-marked hiking trail climbs out of the built-up area to open meadows and pastures. At Alpweid, the view opens up, extending to the Schrattenfluh and Brienzer Rothorn and far across the UNESCO Entlebuch Biosphere Reserve.
After the initial ascent, the circuit reaches its highest point at just under 1,300 m. The trail then leads to the Laui barbecue area, which has a fire pit and a play area for children. Open terrain and short stretches of woodland then alternate as the route gradually loses elevation again. The well-signposted circuit leads back to the first houses of Sörenberg and, after just under four kilometres, ends in the village, a few steps from the PostBus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
