01/ Overview
The route
A short themed trail above Sörenberg offers a playful introduction to the techniques and history of Swiss wrestling. Open meadows, barbecue sites and views of the surrounding mountains accompany the route.
The Joel Wicki Trail begins directly at the Sörenberg Post bus stop. This playful themed trail traces the career of the 2022 Swiss wrestling champion and provides fascinating insights into the techniques and history of the sport. From the houses, the route climbs along a hiking trail across open meadows. Views open up over the mountains around Sörenberg, while several barbecue sites provide opportunities for a break.
After around one and a half kilometres, the route reaches its highest point at approximately 1,260 m. The entire circuit involves around 120 metres of elevation gain. Longer sections lie outside the marked hiking trail network, descending again between pastures and woodland. Towards the end, the houses of Sörenberg draw closer and the trail leads back into the village. After just under three kilometres and around one hour, the circuit ends back at the Sörenberg Post bus stop.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
