01/ Overview
The route
A gentle hike through the Seetal, across meadows and through woodland, passing Kleinwangen on the way to Schloss Heidegg with its rose garden and refreshment kiosk. The final stretch leads downhill to Gelfingen.
From Baldegg railway station, the yellow-marked hiking trail initially leads out of the village and across open meadows to Ferren. The ascent continues to Kleinwangen, where the route passes directly by the village church. Fields, pastures and short stretches of woodland then alternate.
Gently rising and falling, the trail reaches its highest point at around 570 m after just over four kilometres. This lies on the edge of the Lindenberg, before the route continues across to Schloss Heidegg. The castle stands high above the Baldeggersee amid parkland and a cultural landscape of national importance. The rose garden and winery shape the surroundings; on the castle forecourt, the refreshment kiosk offers homemade pastries or wine from the Heidegg winery.
From the castle, the route descends steeply. The first houses of Gelfingen are reached at the Church of St Wendelin. Near the Baldeggersee, the final stretch leads through the village; after just under two hours, the hike ends at Gelfingen railway station, with connections on the S9.

How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
