01/ Overview
The route
A short barefoot trail through the forest: moss, fir needles and mud provide a variety of sensations before a spot of water treading in the Biberenbach.
The barefoot trail begins in Heiligkreuz at around 1,100 m. It is just over 200 m from the Heiligkreuz Kirche PostBus stop to the start of the trail. The pilgrimage church stands slightly apart; its history dates back to the Late Middle Ages. The short trail runs almost level through the forest, following red footprint markers.
Here, the pace is set not by views or elevation gain, but by the ground beneath bare feet. Fir needles, moss and muddy sections alternate, turning the route into a sensory health trail. Around Hundsboden, the route remains in the forest.
The barefoot trail concludes at the Biberenbach. Here, Kneipp-style water treading forms the intended finale; Kneipp attributed healing properties to water. After around half an hour, the trail ends back in Heiligkreuz. The nearest stop, Heiligkreuz Witebach, is around 300 m from the finish.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
