01/ Overview
The route
The root child Wurzilla shows the way: this short family hike combines puzzles and a dragon hunt with playful stations in the forest and the Heiligkreuz pilgrimage church.
It is only a few steps from the Hasle LU, Heiligkreuz Kirche PostBus stop to Hotel Kurhaus Heiligkreuz, where the short fairy-tale trail begins. The story of the root child Wurzilla leads off in search of a dragon and explores the natural healing powers of the surrounding area. Puzzles, props and a smartphone scavenger hunt accompany the roughly half-hour loop.
The hiking trail climbs gently into the countryside and reaches its highest point at around 1,180 m. Play stations await in the forest: an oversized spider’s web and a giant wooden swing. A suspension bridge and the barbecue area immediately beyond it also form part of the loop. The trail then descends to the houses of Heiligkreuz. Between the forest and the village, meadows open out around the settlement. Finally, the route returns to the pilgrimage church. Its history dates back to the Late Middle Ages, and it is classified as a cultural property of national significance.
