01/ Overview
The route
Across open meadows and through protective forest, the circuit climbs to panoramic Farnere. A summit book, the Stolehüttli hut and Bergrestaurant First are landmarks along the way back to the pilgrimage church of Heiligkreuz.
The circular hike of just under eight kilometres begins at the Hasle LU, Heiligkreuz Kirche bus stop, beside the pilgrimage church of Heiligkreuz. Its history dates back to the Late Middle Ages, and it is listed as a cultural property of national significance. From the pilgrimage site, the hiking trail crosses open meadows to Reistegg and continues towards Hundsbode. The protective forest trail begins there; a barbecue area and wooden fountain can be found by the Stolehüttli hut.
The ascent now leads up to Farnere. The highest point is reached at around 1,570 m. The open terrain offers panoramic views of Schimbrig, Äbnistetteflue and Schafmatt; a summit book marks the high point of the circuit. The trail then descends through the forest to Bergrestaurant First and its sun terrace.
In the final third, the route returns to Heiligkreuz via the Wurzilla fairy-tale trail. From the Kurhaus, it is not far back to the pilgrimage church and the end of the hike.
