01/ Overview
The route
A short themed trail leads from the pilgrimage site into a forest of bilberry bushes and ferns. The Seelensteg, a centuries-old sycamore maple and the symbol of the snail invite reflection on becoming, being and passing away.
From the Hasle LU, Heiligkreuz Kirche bus stop, it is only a few steps to the pilgrimage church. Its history dates back to the Late Middle Ages, and a relic of the True Cross is venerated here. At around 1,130 m, the starting point is already the highest point of this short circuit.
The trail initially descends into the forest. There, the elevated Seelensteg leads through bilberry bushes and ferns. Its timber came from trees felled by Storm Lothar. The footbridge represents the connection between two worlds and forms part of a themed trail exploring becoming, being and passing away. The snail serves as a symbol of slowness. Another stop is the Kraftbaum, a centuries-old sycamore maple. Traditional timber harvesting has been discontinued in this part of the forest.
After the lowest point, the route climbs gently again. The forest thins out, revealing open ground and the houses of Heiligkreuz. After just over one kilometre, the circuit ends back at the Heiligkreuz pilgrimage church.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
