01/ Overview
The route
A barrier-free village circuit exploring Schüpfheim’s history, Celtic trees of life and the Kleine Emme, complemented by information panels and additional digital content.
The barrier-free Cultural Trail begins at Bahnhofplatz Schüpfheim, just a few steps from the railway station. The circuit initially leads through the village before continuing out to meadows and open countryside. After just under one kilometre, it reaches its highest point at around 750 m; there are no major climbs along the route, which takes just under an hour.
Illustrated information panels recount the village fire and subsequent reconstruction, natural disasters, the Peasants’ War and the cheese trade. QR codes provide additional digital content. The trees of life with their Celtic interpretations and the Celtic tree circle offer a different perspective on the surroundings. The Kleine Emme is also one of the stops along the Cultural Trail.
In the final third, the route returns between the houses of Schüpfheim and passes directly by the Church of St. Johannes und Paulus. Those wishing to extend the circuit can add an extra loop to the play and picnic area in the Sagenwald. Without this detour, the Cultural Trail ends back at Schüpfheim railway station after just under four kilometres.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
