01/ Overview
The route
This panoramic circular hike climbs the sunny side of Schüpfheim to Obstaldenegg. A pilgrims’ trail, an educational farm and the Sagenwäldli add variety along the way.
From Schüpfheim railway station, the circular hike initially leads out of the village and via Eggli onto the sunny side of Entlebuch’s main town. Along a section of the pilgrims’ trail, meadows, pastures and short stretches of woodland alternate. At the Oberlindebüel educational farm, hikers are permitted a glimpse of farm life; nearby, St. Joseph’s Chapel, built in 1680 and restored in 1987, is a reminder of the rural cultural landscape.
The trail continues uphill via Geismatte to Obstaldenegg. There is a barbecue site here, and shortly afterwards the highest point is reached at around 1'100 m. The route then descends via Oberberg and through the Luswald. Open slopes repeatedly offer views of Schüpfheim.
The final section passes the farms and houses of Unternäre and Längacher. The route leads through the Sagenwäldli, with its extensive woodland playground, back into the village and, after just over three and a half hours, to Schüpfheim railway station.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
