01/ Overview

The route

Cross-country skiing below the legendary World Cup finishing slope of the «Chuenisbärgli»: the route runs in several loops past some impressive wooden houses and farms on the valley floor. With moderate climbs and a few ascents, skiers enjoy a magnificent view of the Adelboden mountains.

It is only a few steps from the Adelboden, Kreuzgasse bus stop to the start in Boden; the Bodenkapelle stands slightly apart. The trail initially crosses the open terrain beyond the houses. It climbs gently, reaching its highest point at around 1,340 m after just under two kilometres. Just under two hours are estimated for the entire circuit.

The trail then descends through meadows and pastures in broad curves. Roughly halfway around, it reaches its lowest point at around 1,280 m before gradually gaining height again. Views remain open across the Adelboden valley floor as the trail approaches the starting area without any long climbs. Towards the end, it passes close to Restaurant Wildstrubel; shortly afterwards, the circuit closes in Adelboden, Boden. The Adelboden, Kreuzgasse bus stop is around 120 m away.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
