01/ Overview

The route

Crossing almost the entire mountain village of Kandersteg: With a view to the signature mountain Blümlisalp, the green track passes beautiful Swiss Alpine chalets and leads to the ski jumping hill side.

The cross-country ski trail begins at Hotel Des Alpes on the edge of Kandersteg. The nearest public transport stop, Kandersteg, Museum, is around 600 m away. From the hotel, the circuit initially leads between the village houses and past the Bernerhof; the Reformed church stands a little off the route.

The houses soon give way to open meadows. Over the eight kilometres, gentle climbs alternate with short descents, amounting to around 150 metres of ascent in total. With no steep sections, the rhythm remains steady as the trail repeatedly approaches the village before heading back out into the open countryside.

Towards the end, the circuit climbs again and reaches its highest point at around 1,210 m. From there, the trail leads back between the houses and returns to Hotel Des Alpes after a little over two hours.
