01/ Overview
The route
The Diemtigtal cross-country skiing trail makes its way through forests, alongside ice-bound mountain streams and over snow-covered meadows. The Tiermatti trail is a part of a 22km, continuous cross-country trail network in the rear Diemtigtal valley.
The starting point of the approximately eight-kilometre trail is in Schwenden i.D., some distance from public transport. The nearest stop, Schwenden i.D., Tiermatti, is around 400 m away. From Schwenden, the circuit heads up the valley across open terrain towards Grimmialp.
After the gentle climb, the highest point is reached at Grimmialp, at around 1,180 m. For a short stretch, the trail follows the Senggibach; it then sweeps in a broad arc through open meadows and pastures. The StaldenmaadhĂĽtte is nearby, around 200 m from the route. The trail then descends to the lowest point of the circuit before climbing gently once more. After just over two hours, the circuit closes back in Schwenden i.D.; from the finish, it is also around 400 m to the Tiermatti stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
