01/ Overview
The route
Surrounded by the gentle pass landscape and with a beautiful view of the razor-sharp, jagged Gastlosen, the Jaunpass offers a unique cross-country skiing experience. The region at approximately 1500 m.a.s.l. is considered to be snowsure; the stretch with some ascents and descents comprises multiple loops.
From the Jaunpass, Restaurant bus stop, it is just under 300 m to the start at Jaunpass, Hälsli. From there, the approximately seven-kilometre trail sets off on its circuit of just over two hours. It initially descends gently before crossing broad, open expanses characterised by wet meadows and small patches of moorland. The Jaunpass itself lies slightly off the trail.
About halfway around, the route reaches the Col de Bellegarde. It then turns back and gradually gains height. The open terrain continues to dominate as the trail approaches Gislibühl. Shortly before the final kilometre, the route reaches its highest point at just over 1,500 m. From there, the trail descends gently back to the starting point at Hälsli; the Jaunpass, Restaurant bus stop is again just under 300 m away.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
