01/ Overview
The route
The Nordic sports centre is in Im Fang, alongside the cantonal road between Charmey and Jaun. The place is surrounded by the peaks of the Vanil d’Arpille or the Hochmatt and is well known for its early, long-lasting snow cover.
The ten-kilometre trail starts at the Charmey, La Fulateyre bus stop. From there, the route initially crosses open terrain. The lowest point comes right at the beginning; the trail then climbs gradually, interspersed with short, flatter sections. Meadows and pastures dominate the scenery as the houses of Charmey recede into the distance.
Around halfway, the trail reaches Im Fang. In the settled area, houses briefly replace the open landscape before the route once again emerges onto open ground. The total ascent is around 200 metres, but the climb is spread over almost the entire route and interrupted by minor counter-climbs.
Towards the end, the trail approaches Jaun. The Cascade de Jaun is only a short detour from the route. The highest point is not reached until the finish in Jaun, at just over 1'000 m; the Jaun, Dorf bus stop is only a few steps away.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
