01/ Overview

The route

This varied cross-country ski trail above Zweisimmen takes you through the gently rolling hills on the snow-sure Sichermoos high plateau. It affords enchanting views from Stockhorn to Les Diablerets.

The start of the ten-kilometre trail is just a few steps from the Zweisimmen, Sparenmoos bus stop. Initially, it descends gently across open terrain and follows the Beretgrabe for a short distance. The broad expanses around Sparenmoos dominate the landscape, interspersed with stretches across moorland and shallow hollows.

After the lowest point, a long, steady climb begins. The trail gains around 240 metres in elevation overall and traces a broad arc across the high plateau. After just over six kilometres, the highest point of the circuit is reached near Schiltenegg at around 1,710 m. From there, the trail descends once more across the open terrain. Towards the end, it undulates gently through the moorland before returning to Sparenmoos and the nearby bus stop after just under three hours.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • Cross-country skiing is more fun in the snow! Check local conditions before heading out.

How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
