The route
Steeped in legend, Oberblegisee counts among Switzerland's most beautiful mountain lakes. Wild mountain streams, secluded rest spots and magnificent alpine flora make the hike up to the lake a memorable experience – a thrilling excursion for families.
The hike starts at the Grotzenbüel (Hüttenberg) stop, almost at the highest point of the route. A short ascent leads to just under 1,600 m, followed by a long and varied descent. The yellow-marked hiking trail crosses open meadows and repeatedly enters the forest.
The route continues along the hillside with gentle ups and downs until Oberblegisee comes into view around two-thirds of the way. The mountain lake lies at about 1,420 m at the foot of the Glärnisch. It formed behind a glacial moraine and has a largely unexplored underground outflow. The shore is ideal for an extended rest.
From the lake, the trail continues down the valley. Sections of forest alternate with open pastures as Brunnenberg draws closer. After just over two and a half hours, the nine-kilometre hike ends above Luchsingen. The destination is not served by public transport; the nearest stop, Luchsingen, Dorfplatz, is around 1.1 kilometres away.
