Linth-Uferweg

The route in Canton Glarus takes you from Schwanden to Netstal, through a broad and open valley surrounded by lush greenery and rugged mountain scenery. A route offering pure tranquillity and relaxation.

From the Schwanden GL, Bahnhof stop, the route heads north on an almost level path. Shortly after the start, it reaches its highest point at around 520 m; from there, it gradually loses elevation. The yellow-marked hiking trail leads north between houses and open meadows before entering the Aueliwald forest. The Auelichopf barbecue area lies directly on the route.

Beyond the forest, open spaces alternate with built-up areas. At the Bleiche barbecue area, the route meets the Dorfbach stream and follows it downhill through Ennenda. In Glarus, houses dominate the scenery, interspersed with shorter sections away from the marked hiking trail network. The stream remains the guiding thread almost to the end, while the path continues towards Netstal with only minor uphill sections. After around nine kilometres and just over two hours, the route reaches Netstal railway station.
