01/ Overview
The route
Following the course of the Mülibach stream you reach the waterfall of the same name above Iseltwald. The well-maintained hiking trail leads through partially open terrain to the Giessbach Falls. The last section leads along the lakeshore to Brienz.
From the Iseltwald, Dorfplatz bus stop, the waymarked hiking trail leads out of the village and briefly follows the Mülibach. It then climbs into the forest. After just under three kilometres, the highest point is reached near Litschgiburg at almost 800 metres. Just over three hours should be allowed for the twelve kilometres and around 440 metres of ascent.
A longer series of ascents and descents follows, alternating between woodland and open meadows, mostly well above Lake Brienz. In the second half, the route leads to the Giessbach. At the photo spot, views open up of the Giessbach Falls; the mountain stream plunges towards Lake Brienz and flows into the lake shortly afterwards. The trail then descends through the forest to the shore.
The final few kilometres remain close to the water. Along the steep lakeshore, shady stretches of forest alternate with open sections before the first houses of Brienz come into view. Passing Restaurant Kuriosa, the route continues through the village to Ländte and on to the finish at the Brienz BRB stop.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: SLF only publishes its snow maps from November 1. Until then we roughly estimate the snow depth at the lowest and the highest point of the route every day from the nearest SLF measuring stations. Check the situation on site.
