01/ Overview
The route
From Lake Brienz, the Muoschbach Trail climbs through woodland and meadows to the Mülibachfall waterfall and the cultural landscape near Louberli. A short circular hike with a steep ascent on the slopes above Iseltwald.
From Iseltwald village square, the Muoschbach Trail initially leads between the houses and close to Lake Brienz. Its steep shores plunge into the depths with virtually no shallow-water zones. The ascent to the Mülibachfall soon begins, where the stream tumbles over a rocky ledge into a pool; behind the waterfall, a bench provides a place to rest.
The route continues uphill through woodland and across meadows via Fura and Silboden. Near Louberli, the scenery is characterised by a species-rich cultural landscape that has received the Cultural Landscape Award; the animals at the animal sanctuary are kept for no productive purpose. A longer section runs outside the marked hiking trail network before the circular route reaches its highest point, at around 870 m, after almost three kilometres.
The descent leads via Twerweg back towards the lake, initially on a short mountain hiking trail and later on a hiking trail. At the bottom, Restaurant Seegarten and Lake Brienz lie directly on the route, while Schloss Seeburg can be seen a little way off. After almost five kilometres and just under two hours, the circular hike ends back at Iseltwald village square, right by the bus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
