01/ Overview
The route
High above Iseltwald, meadows alternate with woodland, while ever-changing views of Lake Brienz open up along the way. A scenic circular hike with a detour to Senggflue.
The circular hike of just over three hours begins at the Iseltwald, Dorfplatz bus stop. Initially, the hiking trail leads out of the village and climbs between meadows and woodland towards Fura. After Schwerzgaden, the ascent continues; near Gippi, the route reaches its highest point at around 910 m. Views repeatedly open up over Iseltwald and Lake Brienz, whose steep shores leave hardly any shallow-water areas.
The route then continues through open terrain and woodland, with a series of longer ascents and descents. One extended section lies outside the marked hiking trail network. Via the hamlets of Isch and Egg Isch, the circuit gradually descends towards the valley again. Near the end, Senggflue makes a worthwhile short detour, with views as far as Interlaken and Lake Thun; there is also a barbecue site at Senggflue. The trail enters the woodland once more, then reaches the shore of Lake Brienz and returns to the village square between the lake and the first houses of Iseltwald.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
