01/ Overview
The route
Above Lake Brienz, the Senggflue Trail combines shady woodland with species-rich farmland, a waterfall and sweeping views of Iseltwald and its peninsula.
The nearly five-kilometre circuit begins at the Iseltwald, Dorfplatz bus stop. The yellow-waymarked trail leads through the village to Lake Brienz, whose steep shores leave little room for shallow-water zones. The Senggflue Trail then climbs away from the lake and enters the forest. At Senggflue, views open up over Iseltwald, the peninsula and the lake; the nearby barbecue area makes a good spot for a picnic break.
Higher up, the route reaches its highest point at around 730 m. Sections of woodland then alternate with the species-rich farmland around Louberli, which has received the Oberland-Ost region’s Cultural Landscape Award. The Tierhof Louberli adds a rural touch before the trail descends once more.
The sound of rushing water grows louder at the Mülibach waterfall. The route returns via Twerweg to Lake Brienz and passes Seegarten. After around two hours, the circuit ends back at Iseltwald village square, just a few steps from the bus stop.

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
