01/ Overview
The route
Fountains, art and hidden waterways shape this short urban circuit through Sursee. The viewing hole and listening hole add unexpected touches before the Suhre and Neue Suhre accompany the route back to the old town.
From the Sursee, Rathaus bus stop, the almost two-kilometre fountain circuit leads straight into the old town. Between the Rathausbrunnen and Marienbrunnen, water takes centre stage in Sursee’s townscape. More than half of the fountains are located within the old town. The Stadtkirche St. Georg also stands close to the short circuit.
At the Somehuus, the viewing hole offers a glimpse of hidden channels beneath the buildings. The listening hole, by contrast, brings sounds from the Port of Rotterdam into the town. Art installations such as these alternate with traditional fountains. At the Stadthalle, a fountain featuring two traditional Sursee masks draws on local motifs.
Beyond the old town, the circuit continues to the fountains by the Kotten and Neufeld school buildings. In the lower-lying section, it briefly follows the Suhre and the Neue Suhre. Passing the mill, the route leads through the first rows of houses back to the old town and the Sursee, Rathaus bus stop.

Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
