01/ Overview
The route
Ravines, sandstone cliffs and sweeping views over Lake Sempach define this circular hike on the Eichberg. Along the way are secluded ponds, stretches of woodland and open meadows.
This circuit of just under three hours starts at the car park by the school grounds and Eich parish church. It first passes through the village and briefly follows the Dorfbach stream. In the Pfarrtobel ravine, the Glögglifroschweg accompanies the ascent; sandstone cliffs, small waterfalls, ponds and wetland habitats provide plenty of variety. Longer sections run away from the marked hiking trail network.
The route continues uphill via Hundgellen and Dutenkolben. At Obere Hundgellen, the panorama opens up across Lake Sempach to the mountains. Near Bloseberg, the route reaches its highest point at around 750 metres. Open meadows, woodland and scattered houses then alternate along the way.
At Brand, sports and leisure facilities, benches and a barbecue area lie beside the trail. Via Voremwald, the circuit gradually leads back towards Eich. Towards the end, it follows the Römerweg past the Eichberg winery and returns to the school grounds by the parish church.

03/ Conditions
Current conditions
What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.
How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.
How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.
How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
