01/ Overview

The route

A short themed trail from Sempach through the Mussiwald to the Rotbach and up to the Schlachtkapelle – with a barbecue area, swimming spots and plenty of woodland along the way.

From the Sempach Stadt, Meierhöfli bus stop, it is only a few steps to the Dreiangel car park, where the Fox Trail begins. Initially, the route leads out of Sempach and follows the Mülitalbach for a short distance. The broad hiking trail climbs gently; through the trees, nearby Lake Sempach remains more a part of the scenery than an immediate companion along the way.

The wooded section begins at the Sempach Mussi shooting range. The themed trail continues uphill through the Mussiwald. A barbecue area offers a good place for a break. From here, the route runs for long stretches outside the marked hiking trail network. At Wydenmoos, the trail continues towards the Rotbach, where there are several swimming spots.

Shortly before the destination, the trail reaches its highest point near Bloseberg at around 630 m. From there, it is only a few more minutes to the Schlachtkapelle Sempach. The destination is not served by public transport; the nearest stop, Sempach Stadt, Meierhöfli, is around 1.3 km away.

03/ Conditions

Current conditions

What to know before you set off. Closures and snow are re-checked every day.

  • How we check: Every night we match the route against the official closures and detours from the Federal Roads Office (FEDRO). Any reported closure that touches the route shows up here.

  • How we check: We look up a live public transport connection from your starting point to the stop closest to the trailhead. If it ends further away, the nearest stop may be a cable car or bus that isn't running right now.

  • How we check: Snow depth estimated daily at the lowest and the highest point of the route. Estimates: check the situation on site.
