Chemin de Frience–Solalex–Cergnement

The winter walk between Frience, Solalex and Cergnement runs along a panoramic balcony facing the impressive Miroir de l’Argentine, taking you though two remote valleys and along the spectacular Anzeindaz river.

From the Alpe des Chaux, Frience bus stop, the winter hike begins almost at the highest point of the route. Near La Motte, an elevation of around 1,560 metres is reached at the outset. The trail then leads through Frience and past the Cabane de Tony before gradually losing altitude across open terrain.

After around three and a half kilometres, Solalex marks roughly the halfway point. The Café Restaurant de Solalex stands directly on the route. From here, the trail continues downhill, with short uphill sections adding variety to the otherwise distinctly descending route.

In the second half, meadows and pastures alternate with longer stretches of forest. Over the seven kilometres, the route involves around 420 metres of descent and 140 metres of ascent. Near the end, it reaches its lowest point before finishing at the Parking de Cergnement. The Gryon, bifurcation Cergnement bus stop is just a few steps farther on.
